The Charleston Post and Courier reported Sunday that Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips was at Air Force’s game against TCU on Saturday.

Several published reports have identified Air Force coach Troy Calhoun as a possible candidate for the Tigers’ vacant head coaching position.

Calhoun refused to comment after Saturday’s game about whether he would talk to any other schools. “I’m not getting into it,” he said.

Maybe Clemson was there to scout Gary Patterson.

  • Possible. And possibly both Patterson and Calhoun. Patterson’s name was linked to the open job at his alma mater (Kansas State), but according to reports, the Wildcats have decided to hire former coach Bill Snyder.

what would be ironic, is that back in late 80′s or early 90′s, clemson almost wooed Fisher DeBerry to Clemson. He decided to stay and the rest is history…
