Happy Friday … the 13th. Yikes. Be careful out there. My dad once broke both wrists climbing his junior high when he was a kid on Friday the 13th.

And, hey, talk about a great segue – the Air Force men’s basketball team opens its season tonight against Division II Western State. I know Falcon hoops fans are hoping this year won’t be as much of a horror movie as the 2008-09 season was.

The Gazette’s hoops preview is in today’s paper. It includes:

-My story on third-year coach Jeff Reynolds, who has changed his approach after learning from last year (and going through a personal health scare).

-Here are player capsules, with information on each of the players on the Falcons’ 15-player roster.

-And here are my 3 signs of a good season/3 signs of a bad season and 3 games to watch.

I’ll be posting later today and tonight from Clune Arena.

Also, hockey writer Joe Paisley writes about the Air Force hockey team’s special teams heading into this weekend’s series at Holy Cross. And here is a UNLV football notebook from The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
