Senior forward Noah Dahlman of Wofford isn’t very big at 6-6, and isn’t exactly an athletic marvel either.
“He’s not supposed to be this good,” Wofford coach Mike Young said.
But he is very productive, a high-percentage shooting inside player who has averaged more than 15 points per game each season since his sophomore year. And that’s the problem for Air Force.
The Falcons’ injury issues at forward have been well documented. Now they are going with a short rotation that basically features Taylor Broekhuis for as many minutes as he can play, Derek Brooks playing some inside, and that’s about it. Dealing with Dahlman should give an indication how well the Falcons can hold up inside this season.
“He plays incredibly hard,” Young said of Dahlman. “He’s smart. He’s incredibly savvy. He has a knowledge of leverage and angles that you just don’t teach.”
“He’s a very efficient scorer around the basket,” Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said. “It’s a test for our team.”
