Figuring out rotation doesn’t worry Reynolds

The odd thing about Wednesday’s loss by Air Force at Colorado State wasn’t just that the backups played a lot of minutes, but that they played well. Players like Taylor Stewart and Mike Fitzgerald gave the Falcons a nice lift off the bench, and probably earned more playing time.

The problem is figuring out where those minutes will come from. Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said he hasn’t thought much about it, because situations during the game dictate certain players get more playing time.

“We’ve never talked to guys about who starts,” Reynolds said. “It’s about who is on the floor when it counts.”

Reynolds, who said he doesn’t plan to make any changes in the starting lineup, said the team chemistry is good, so there shouldn’t be any problems with who plays.

One player who got left out of the mix at Colorado State was guard Shawn Hempsey, who has normally given Todd Fletcher a break during the season. Hempsey played just two minutes against the Rams, and Fletcher got 38, although Reynolds said he didn’t plan to play Fletcher so much.
