You’d think that in about 5,900 words of signing day news I wouldn’t have forgot to touch on a point I wanted to/should have mentioned, but I did – and was reminded of that after reading the well-informed comments on the blog. Lost in the excitement of the incoming recruiting class out of high school is that there are a bunch of players who have spent a year playing the Air Force system down in the prep school. And those players did exceptionally well last season.
Air Force’s prep school team went 8-3, its best record since joining the Jayhawk Conference, including a 45-19 win over Fort Scott, which was ranked third nationally in the preseason poll. With all the quarterbacks coming in, Mitch Griebel might still be the one at the front of the line to be Air Force’s next long-term starter. The prep school had many intriguing skill position players who, if they accept their appointments to the Air Force, could make an impact for the Falcons in the next couple of years.
