After losing to San Diego State, Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds had a lot of good things to say about both teams.
He said he thinks the Aztecs can make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament with the right seed. He praised their offense and defense. Therefore, he wasn’t critical about his team after it lost to San Diego State, which is ranked sixth in the country.
“I think our guys will stay the course and continue to get better,” Reynolds said. “I’m awful proud of them.”
Reynolds talked about Air Force’s defense, which held the Aztecs to 35.1 percent shooting. He thought the Falcons played as well on defense as they have all year. They didn’t do well in defensive rebounding, but credited the Aztecs.
On offense, Reynolds pointed to a crisp and efficient first half. Air Force, which had just seven turnovers in the game, shot 54.2 percent in the first half.
“Against San Diego State, you’re not going to get an open shot after two passes, or after three passes,” Reynolds said. “In the first half, we did as good of a job as we’ve done all year executing our offense and getting good shots. In the second half, we got those same shots, they just didn’t go down.”
Like the loss against UNLV, Reynolds was happy his team didn’t let up on defense when the shots weren’t falling in the second half.
“They’re disciplined, they’re focused, and as dedicated as any group I’ve ever coached,” Reynolds said.

With BYU, UNLV & SD behind us now. We take our best two halves to Wyoming and come away victorious. Just like a bad golf shot…don’t look back! The effort today defensively was fun to watch, Falcons
Nicely done. Stay focused for conference playoffs.
Sorry Franco…nicely done…a loss is a loss. However, I like the heart that JR and the team displayed. The officiating made me wonder if the refs were betting the line or if the MWC wants to make sure that SDSU and BYU get really good seeds in the tourney. Reynolds could have shown some real onions by going after the officiating publicly…it would have been worth the fine or reprimand from the MWC. Fisher and Alford don’t hesitate to do it…and the refs always listen to them while they ignore JR.
Al,
the officials never make me wonder, this conference has an agenda and they don’t care what it takes to achieve it! Reynolds, was the most emotional I’ve seen him in six yrs at AF. C’mon Al, you didn’ really expect AF to win today. I’m no JR fan but this loss had lttle to do with coaching. At this point in the season, a loss is a loss is being a little hard on the Beav, don’t ya think? Now that we agree the MWC is a bunch of Hoffa’s buying off officials…whats next? Since Reynolds is here two more seasons, like it or not…he has no one to listen to him! Yes, the team did a nice job on defense. IMO
I’ll give them another day, but I’m very disappointed that JR and HR haven’t yet publically called for a review of the game film. Hey, ref’ing is a tough job, but that was simply the worst I’ve ever seen. take the fine. take the reprimand. but grow a pair, please!
How can anyone keep asserting the MWC is better than it has ever been, is nuts. The past 6 seasons in the Mount West Conf. there have been only 4 teams(UNLV, SD, NM, TCU) which have 8 or more Conf. wins each and every year. This season will end in the same NUMBER OF TOP TEAMS results.
The only thing that has changed is the POSSIBLE COLORADO seating as one of the 4 teams in place of TCU in the top four in the, now better known, Mountain WHORE Conf.

SELECTED ATTRIBUE GUAGE CALLED, “RPI” – IT IS A JOKE!
IT IS A GENERATED STAT TO SWAY AND LEAD ATTRIBUTE DATA. MWC WOULDN’T KNOW A DATA SET OF FULL FACTORIALS, IF THEY TRIPPED OVER IT.
“RPI” IS LIKE A BIKINI, IT SHOWS SOMETHING BUT CLEARLY NOT EVERYTHING! MWC AND THEIR SO CALLED EXPERT ANALYSTS USES IT LIKE A DRUNK USES A WALL, – TO LEAN ON!
AF 4 WINS VS. LOSING TEAMS.
COLO STATE IS BETTER THIS YEAR, UTAH WORSE THIS YEAR VS LAST
TCU WORSE THIS YEAR VS LAST
WYOMING IS WORSE THIS YEAR, NEW MEX IS WORSE THIS YEAR, UNLV IS EVEN WORSE THIS YEAR THAN 2007, 2008 AND 2009,
THE TWO TOP TEAMS BYU AND SAN DIEGO ARE INDEED STRONG, AND AS I SAID COLO. STATE REPLACES NM OR TCU IN STANDINGS THIS YEAR, FROM LAST FEW YEARS.
BUT YOU WOULD’NT KNOW IT BY THE CORRUPT OFFOCIATING AND PAID PROSTITUTE ANALYSTS SPINNING FOR THE MWC.
BASED UPON THE STANDINGS IN THE PAST SIX SEASONS. FOR LOSING COACHES LIKE AF, TCU, UTAH, NM AND WYO., THE ANALYSTS ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO PUMP UP THE CONFERANCE BECAUSE SO MANY TEAMS ARE LEAVING/CHANGING. THE OFFICIALS ARE CLEARLY FAVORING THE TOP FOUR TEAMS IN GAME PLAY TO INSURE TOP SEEDING AND NCAA INVITES. THEY ARE PROSTITUTING THESE OFFICIATING CREWS TO GUARANTEE THE UNDERDOG TEAMS THRU THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON DO NOT HAVE A FLUKE CHANCE TO WIN/ UPSET THE MWC AGENDA.
JUST PROVES TO EVERYONE, EVEN THE CASUAL OBSERVER, THIS MWC IS NOT ABOVE DEPLORABLE ACTIONS LIKE PAYING OFF REFEREES TO FIX THE GAMES THEY WANT AS THEY ARE WALKING INTO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT.
PRESIDENT OF THE MWC SHOULD BE INDICTED ON RICO CHARGES…
