Air Force did well to keep their new uniforms a secret – coach Troy Calhoun said there was nothing planned, and nobody else blabbed either. But this morning when Air Force came out for warmups they did so in sharp alternate uniforms – gray jerseys with a matching helmet, and blue pants. The look is a preview for next year, when Air Force will add gray jerseys and blue pants for a few selected games.
Before the picture, some football news – outside linebacker Patrick Hennessey has been fitted for a cast and will try to play today.
I really dislike the new uniforms. They look drab and dingy already, almost like a throwback uniform from long before the academy was founded.
That’s a call you don’t make in OT. Congrats to the Falcons, but wish that wasn’t the way we won.
I’ll take the win, any which way it comes.
The Unifomrs are ok. I’m not a fan of all the variations..but I guess the players love it. I would give more visibility to the the Official Air Force logo or something iconic the Air Force mission….an Aircraft Roundel, bomb/aircraft silouettes, The SAC iron fist or a Mushroom cloud.
Agreed, they’re downright ugly. That notwithstanding, take them to South Bend….in fact, don’t even wash them before next Satruday!
Uniforms do not win football games BUT they can give the team a little extra incentive. Apparently today they did. Hats off to our Falcons. The offense did their job well and although the defense bent a little (who wouldn’t after around 100 plays by the other team) they did not break and found a way to make a play to remember! Great win Falcons! As always, proud of each of you.
I like the blue pants and the single stripe on the helmet. I’m not a fan of the Gray, stick with white jerseys and try a silver helmet or silver pants like they wore in the late 90s. At the end of the day it’s not about fashion it’s about wins. The Falcons did what they had to when the game was on the line. Beat the Irish!
I loved the uniforms. What a win wiith all the defensive starters out.
I thought the new uni’s look awesome. Everyone who likes to stick with tradition needs to open up to new ideas aka new uni’s. I hope AFA gets Pro Combats next year as well
Maybe Frank will ask Coach Calhoun why the silver/gray color scheme was chosen; bottom line is whether the players liked them or not.
Mike
I like the uni’s but only for one game a year.
