The Walter Camp Football Foundation named Air Force inside linebacker Brady Amack its national defensive player of the week for his 23-tackle game at Navy. Pitt running back Ray Graham won the offensive award.
Amack’s performance was phenomenal. Three of his tackles came on third down, stopping Navy short of the first down. Amack’s 23 tackles are tied for the most by a Football Bowl Subdivision player this season, and tied for the most in Mountain West history. It was the most tackles in a game for Air Force since Brian Hill had 23 against Colorado State in 1988.
After the game, Amack had no idea how many tackles he amassed. He was surprised to hear no Air Force player had that many tackles in more than 20 years.
“I felt kind of busy, but I didn’t know,” Amack said.
After having the best defensive game in the nation last week, Amack was pretty subdued about what he had done.
“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the D-line,” Amack said. “I feel like I was unblocked almost the whole game.”
He also received a helmet sticker from ESPN (College Football Final) for his amazing performance.
