Quarterback Tim Jefferson practiced on Monday, not even wearing a red jersey to indicate he was injured. Jefferson broke his nose against New Mexico last week.
Although all signs point to Jefferson starting this week against Army, coach Troy Calhoun didn’t proclaim his quarterback ready to go.
“Not yet,” Calhoun said. “It was encouraging to at least see him be involved in practice.”
Calhoun said practice the next few days will determine Jefferson’s status.
“His feet and arm and motion are fine, but we rough up our quarterbacks up a little bit (in practice) and we have to find out physically how he responds,” Calhoun said.
The team’s game agaisnt Army is Tim Jefferson’s final opportunity to play in a CIC Trophy game. He’d have the chance to help his team retain possession of the trophy for a second consecutive year. My feeling is not only will he play in the game, but he will start as well, unless he undergoes an autopsy between now and the opening kickoff.
