Air Force’s Military Bowl ticket sales climb towards 10,000

Air Force is close to 10,000 tickets sold for the Military Bowl on Dec. 28, a good number considering the Falcons figure on another surge once they get to Washington, D.C.

An Air Force spokesman said the school has officially sold a little more than 9,800 tickets so far. Considering the Falcons have a good chance to surpass the 12,000 tickets they sold last year, there’s a reason the Military Bowl paid a hefty sum to make sure the Falcons landed in its game.

The latest spike in sales brought another message from coach Troy Calhoun hoping Air Force breaks its bowl ticket sales record (we’ll give him a pass for jumping the gun on the 10,000 sold figure):

To the Great Supporters and Graduates of the Air Force Academy,
We are only 9 days from kickoff, and we have sold 10,000 tickets, but let’s go after our goal of 12,500 which would be an all time Air Force Academy record.  So let’s purchase tickets and make sure we have RFK Stadium full of Falcons pulling for America’s future leaders. Thanks for your help and always — Go Air Force!
