Final: Wyoming 64, Air Force 53; Lyons returns to lineup

Air Force guard Michael Lyons looked like he was completely healthy when he went baseline and threw down a thunderous dunk over Wyoming forward Leonard Washington, who is 6-7 and transferred to the Cowboys from Southern Cal.

But Lyons has a ways to go to be his old self, getting his rhythm back in Air Force’s offense, or health wise.

In Air Force’s loss to Wyoming, Lyons played 27 minutes, scoring nine points. He looked at times like he was figuring out how to fit in with a team that played pretty well when he was out.

Part of the reason is Lyons isn’t fully healthy.

“Prior to the game, our medical staff felt he was about 70 percent,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said Lyons looked like he came out of the game no worse for wear. He did have to come out of the game for a short stretch late in the second half when he got hit in his injured ankle. He stretched it out on the bench and went back in.

Lyons didn’t start, so freshmen Kamryn Williams and Chris Carter were both in the starting lineup, with Carter replacing injured Taylor Stewart. If Lyons responds well in the next couple days, there’s a chance he could start Saturday at San Diego State.

Lyons didn’t meet with the media after the game, because he lost his voice, according to an academy spokesman.
