Forward Taylor Stewart, Air Force’s lone senior starter, is out indefinitely with a broken left ankle suffered in practice this week.
An academy spokesman confirmed the injury, which happened in practice on Monday. Air Force is unsure if Stewart will need surgery. If Stewart needs surgery, that could knock him out for the rest of the season. Even without surgery, Stewart is probably going to miss multiple weeks, at least.
Stewart will be replaced in the starting lineup tonight against Wyoming by freshman Chris Carter. Stewart had started all 15 games for the Falcons, averaging 27.1 minutes per game, and 8.1 points per game.
The Falcons might get some good injury news tonight, as Michael Lyons, the team’s leading scorer, could return after missing six games with a high ankle sprain. All signs have been positive for him to return tonight, and he will dress out, although there has been no official word he will play.
